Organisation: Whittlesea Community Connections

Background

For more than 40 years, Whittlesea Community Connections has provided vital services for local disadvantaged people and emerging communities. Its vision is to create a Whittlesea in which people and organisations work together to make a positive difference to their community, ensuring everyone has equal access to resources and services.

In 2016, the organisation identified a need to better communicate what they are about and to build deeper relationships with the local people they serve.

Approach

We worked with the Whittlesea Community Connections team to understand more about the organisation’s purpose and strategic goals for the future. After undertaking an audit of key elements of their communications, we found that the previous logo didn’t effectively communicate who they are, what they do, and how they do it.

We then redesigned the branding, with a particular focus on creating a new logo. The new logo was created to better reflect the purpose of the organisation, with strong visual links to inclusion, diversity and community. We also designed the logo to have more of a focus on people, highlighting the organisation’s role in connecting the community to resources and services. A branding style guide was developed to support the consistent implementation of the brand throughout various communications materials and media.

Outcomes

The new look and feel has been successfully rolled out across a range of platforms, including the organisation’s website and environment design. By better articulating the purpose of Whittlesea Community Connections, the branding has placed the organisation in a strong position to continue to meet the needs of its community for years to come.
