Organisation: Open Canvas

Background

Open Canvas was created to empower disadvantaged artists from a range of backgrounds: some live on the street, some have experienced substance abuse and addiction, some are on low incomes within supported and crisis accommodation, and others live with mental health issues and disability. All are united in their desire to be recognised through their art and craft.

Disruptive Media was approached to develop the communications to launch the initiative, create its identity, and help lay the groundwork for its success.

Approach

After consulting with the team regarding their communications objectives and strategic goals, we came up with the name ‘Open Canvas’ to reflect the inclusive nature and artistic foundations of the initiative. We also developed the logo and strapline, and designed the launch website to help Open Canvas connect with key audiences and spread the word about its work.

Outcomes

The branding and associated communications materials we designed have helped Open Canvas launch with confidence and build a strong, consistent identity. These materials continue to support the growth of Open Canvas as it explores new directions to help marginalised artists.
